COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR POSITION:
FLIC is a relatively young and dynamic statewide immigrant-led alliance that frames its work within a broader social justice, worker and human rights movement with a developing race, class and gender analysis. FLIC offers a great working and learning environment with flexibility and good benefits to someone who seeks to do rigorous and meaningful work. Position is likely based out of Miami, though other Florida locations could be considered. Position"s emphasis could be shaped based on ideal candidate"s strengths.
Update and maintain website using multi-media components as needed.
Compile monthly electronic newsletter for members and partners.
Publish attractive and easy to read bilingual quarterly newsletter for grassroots members and partners.
Ability to manage a 5,000 contact database to customize dissemination of materials.
Ability to design promotional and advocacy materials, writing, layout and publication of press releases, newsletters, flyers, posters and brochures on an as needed basis.
Update, diversify and maintain media lists.
Screen immigrant-related media pieces statewide and prepare timely response.
Support the development of other audiovisual media in conjunction with contracted help. Publish annual report, coordinating content, layout, printing and dissemination.
Assistance in writing solicitation pieces for grants or private donors.
Support the communications capacity through training and technical assistance of member organizations as strategic and as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
? Strong and diverse writing talents.
? Background and passion in social justice organizing.
? Self-motivated, disciplined and able to work independently.
? Strong computer skills, including graphic design and data management software.
? Spanish bilingual preferred.
? Some travel required.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the fundraising and communications program in a dynamic human rights and international development funding organization. The Director of Development & Communications (DDC) is responsible for leading, planning, and implementing Grassroots International"s strategic fundraising and communications programs. Grassroots" fundraising program includes raising the annual budget through: major donor gifts, donor advised funds, direct mail, special events, bequests and sustainers, grant writing, and electronic fundraising. Its communications program includes: a dynamic new website with regular blogs, print and electronic newsletters, an online community, annual financial report, occasional issue reports, and media outreach.
The DDC is a member of the Senior Management Team and reports to the Executive Director. S/he leads a 3 member team, supervising the Individual Giving Coordinator and the Institutional Giving Coordinator as well as a number of fundraising and communications consultants.

To develop, implement and evaluate the Be Not Afraid Project pilots designed to equip Lutheran congregations to respond to
community and personal needs created by immigration enforcement issues.
The Be Not Afraid Project will be the means LIRS, in partnership with our supporting church bodies, will equip Lutheran
congregations as they play a leadership role within their communities, preparing key actors to reduce the impact of
immigration raids or other enforcement actions. With the collapse of comprehensive immigration reform in 2007, the balance
between enforcement of immigration laws and humanitarian solutions has swung increasingly toward overly punitive policies.
Individuals are denied due process, families are torn apart, human rights are violated, and communities are living in fear. Both
LIRS and the national church bodies have heard from synods, districts and individual pastors who want to do something to turn
back the fear and inspire people with strength and hope. Project components will be designed to equip congregations to provide
practical guidance and care for immigrants in their communities who are or potentially could be affected.
Identify, engage and mobilize congregations and service providers and other organizations in each pilot location.
2. Provide coordination and communication for leadership and volunteer groups, maintaining vibrant networks in each
pilot location and among project sites.
3. Develop and implement family and congregational outreach materials, training materials and the train-the-trainer
model in collaboration with colleagues.
4. Provide volunteer training and support through the train-the-trainer model.
5. Ensure strong administration of Be Not Afraid project, from implementation of targets and plans in each pilot location
through evaluation and reporting on pilot phase.
6. Contribute to communications and marketing efforts and assist in cultivating fundraising opportunities, as part of the
LIRS Mission Advancement Department.
7. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

The HRC Communities Manager is a regular, full-time position who reports directly to the Director of HRC Communities & Volunteer Relations (Director).
The Manager is primarily responsible for managing and supporting a set of assigned HRC steering, emerging and pre-emerging community committees, an assigned region, and providing back-up management and support to the HRC Communities & Volunteer Relations Director, the other HRC Communities Manager and the HRC Communities & Volunteer Relations Assistant. The Manager provides training, leadership development, communications, strategic planning, administrative/logistical/technical and motivational support to these communities and the Region. The Manager will have frequent interactions with high-level volunteer leaders, board members and staff in a variety of situations.
Position Responsibilities
? Serve as the primary staff contact for Area Representatives, Alternate Area Representatives, Administrators, and Steering Committee Co-Chairs for an assigned set of communities, and the Board of Governor Regional Co-Chairs in an assigned region. The Manager also provides secondary support to the steering committees" Volunteer Coordinators and Web Content Managers.
? Work with, guide and motivate communities, volunteers and leaders to reach/exceed fiscal year goals by helping them to build and execute annual work plans and succession plans.
? Strategically identify, cultivate, recruit and steward local, regional and national volunteer leaders in partnership with all program areas at HRC.
? Work cooperatively with internal divisions, departments, and programs to coordinate programmatic assistance and communication to and from the communities.
? Act as conduit of information between the Director, communities, staff and board leadership.
? Assist with all aspects of developing, marketing and executing training curricula/toolkits, workshops, planning meetings and conferences in Washington, DC and in communities through the year.
? Manage correspondence to and from community members and other volunteers not associated with formal HRC communities in the Region.
? Conduct analysis and provide monthly report as to the state of the communities in the Region, and a quarterly report as to the progress towards fiscal year goals for the communities in the Region for the Director.
? Provide primary support to the Region"s monthly conference call including, building/vetting the call agenda, staffing the call, taking and distributing minutes and conducting the necessary follow-up.
? Lead efforts to manage, edit, and enhance program videos and the HRC Steering Handbook and other resources.
? Develop and manage the program"s year-round volunteer stewardship/appreciation program.
? Organize and lead effort to plan and carryout annual awards reception for steering committees at the Equality Convention.
? Serve as a representative of the Human Rights Campaign at activities, meetings and events around the country.

Founded in 1941, Freedom House is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes an engaged U.S. foreign policy; globally evaluates political rights and civil liberties; sponsors public education campaigns; facilitates training and other assistance to promote democracy and human rights; and provides support for the rule of law, and free media. Freedom House seeks a Program Officer for its ACPC program located at our Washington, DC, office.
ACPC is an advocacy campaign devoted to enhancing knowledge and understanding among policy-makers of the ongoing crisis in the North Caucasus, to protecting the diverse cultures and peoples that are threatened by the spread of violence in the North Caucasus.
The Program Officer will be responsible for implementing Freedom House"s ACPC program. The tasks of the Program Officer include maintaining and improving the website devoted to providing news and analysis about the North Caucasus, organizing events in Washington and elsewhere to present speakers from and analysts of the region, and maintaining communications with cultural, political and civic activists in the region. The Program Officer would also offer input on Freedom House publications that relate to the Russian Federation and the North Caucasus.
Ideal candidates will have:
Knowledge of human rights conditions and issues in Russia and the North Caucasus.
Ability to produce high quality proposals and reports, maintain documentation and complete other required program tasks.
Effective inter-personal skills and ability to deal with crises and unexpected situations in a fast paced environment and as part of an integrated team.
Effective communication/public speaking skills.
Ability to read, write and speak English and Russian.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn to operate web-building software.
Master"s degree required.
International human rights work, including research and writing on human rights and/or political development issues.
